John Deere Launches Biomass Website
John Deere Construction & Forestry has launched a woody biomass website (www.woodybiomass.com) designed to educate and inform about the importance of harvesting woody biomass. The user-friendly website explains what woody biomass is, why harvesting it is important, how it works as a fuel and what types of innovative public policies are needed to encourage responsible harvesting and the use of woody biomass.

Baker-Rullman Has New Mobile Dryer
Baker-Rullman Manufacturing, Inc., Watertown, Wis., a manufacturer of corrugated steel storage bins, hoppers, steel structure and triple pass rotary drum dryers, has completed construction and testing of a mobile drying unit.
The Model SD45-12 employs Baker-Rullman’s proven triple pass technology and will be available for lease to customers interested in drying materials to analyze drying capabilities, equipment suitability and emissions data.
The completely mobile, rotary dryer system is mounted on a standard 53 ft. trailer to accommodate easy transportation and simple setup without the need for cranes, fork trucks, millwrights or special permits. This unit will accept as much as one ton per hour in-feed and if needed for stickier products, a complete recycle loop may be added. The system is designed to accept propane, natural gas and solid fuel with complete control systems for all options. This is a complete plug and play system designed to accommodate almost any application such as sawdust, paper or municipal sludge, wood chips, egg shells, alfalfa, distillers grains, bakery waste, livestock renderings and citrus or vegetable byproducts.

Efficiencies Built Into Track Chipper
With the recent redesign of the Bandit Model 3090 track chipper, land clearing contractors and loggers now have power and productivity without sacrificing operator comfort. Key upgrades to this 30 in. capacity chipper include a spacious operator’s cab provided with a rear entry door, an emergency escape door on the left and a pop-out escape window on the right. Convenient joystick controls operate all functions of the machine, from the loader’s main and jib boom movement, to the engine controls and feed system.

Whole Tree Chipper Goes For Production
Peterson’s 5900 disc chipper has been enhanced with key features that high-volume chipping operations demand. The new 5900EL (Extended Length) features an 11 ft. (3.3 m) feed deck, PT Tech hydraulic clutch, direct drive for the internal feed rolls, a totally enclosed CAT C18 engine, and is Tier 4 ready. The model 5900EL disc chipper is built to produce high quality paper chips when paired with a Peterson model 4800 debarker or fuel chips as a stand alone fuel wood chipper.
The 5900EL has a large feed throat capable of accepting up to a 23 in. (563 mm) diameter tree or multiple smaller diameter stems. The 5900EL is provided with a standard three knife disc, and is also available with an optional four knife disc. Chipping production rates from 60–100 tons can be achieved depending on chip size.
