Dan ShellDan Shell is Western Editor of Wood Bioenergy and also works closely with other Hatton-Brown publications in reporting issues and writing features and overall magazine production.

A descendant of two south Alabama piney woods families whose members worked for years at places like Rocky Creek Logging, Rocky Creek Lumber and W.T. Smith Lumber in Butler County, Dan is married with three children. An avid hunter and fisherman, he especially enjoys solitary fishing trips to small streams in the Northwest during stay-over weekends while working for Wood Bioenergy and other Hatton-Brown publications.

A native of Auburn, Ala., Dan graduated from Auburn University in 1987 and is a rabid Auburn athletics fan. Prior to joining Hatton-Brown in 1988 he worked at a daily newspaper in Tennessee and still does occasional freelance work in varied areas such as ad and web site copywriting, feature writing for independent publications and of course writing up and calling in his son 's little league games to the local newspaper.
